Who I am

This website is operated by Joachim Penc, a sole trader trading as Joe’s Websites, based in Canterbury, New Zealand. For anything related to this policy or your personal information, please use the contact form.

What I collect, and why

• Contact form — your name, email address and message, so I can reply to you. Your message is sent to me by email and is not stored in a database on this website.
• Quote form — your name, email address, phone number and the answers you give about your business and the website you want, so I can prepare your quote. Like the contact form, this is sent to me by email and not stored in a database on this website. While you fill in the quote form, your in-progress answers are saved only in your own browser (session storage) so you don’t lose them if the page reloads — they never leave your device until you submit, and they are cleared after you do.
• Technical information — when you submit a form, your IP address is included so I can tell genuine messages from spam, and it is briefly held in a server-side counter that limits automated submissions. These counters are automatically purged and are not linked to your name or message afterwards.

How your information is used

Only to respond to your enquiry, prepare your quote and — if we work together — deliver your project. I don’t sell your details, share them with third parties for their marketing, or add you to any mailing list.

Cookies

This website sets no tracking or advertising cookies, which is why you won’t see a cookie banner. The only cookie used anywhere on the site is a standard, short-lived session cookie on a password-protected internal area that ordinary visitors never reach.

Analytics

To understand how the site is used, I use Umami — a privacy-friendly analytics tool. It is cookieless, collects no personal information, anonymises visits, and cannot track you across other websites. There is nothing to opt out of because nothing identifies you.

Third-party services

• Cloudflare Turnstile — protects the contact and quote forms from bots. It processes limited technical signals from your browser (such as your IP address) under Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
• Email delivery — form submissions reach me through a standard email delivery provider, as with any email you send.
• Hosting — this website is hosted in New Zealand.

How long I keep it

Emails from the contact and quote forms are kept as normal business records — for example so I can refer back to what we agreed. Anti-spam counters holding IP addresses are purged automatically, typically within an hour.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, form data is transmitted encrypted, and nothing you submit is stored in a public-facing database on this website.

Your rights

Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you may ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you and ask for it to be corrected or deleted — just use the contact form. If you’re not happy with how I handle your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date below.
